Sheela
Shethia started singing at a very young age of
8 and made her debut as a professional performer at the
age of 13 in the year 1978. She also appeared regularly
in the then popular TV programme 'Santa-kukdi' on
National TV.
She
was one of the trend setters for folk song singers at large
orchestrated dandiya festivals in the year 1981. During
that period the orchestras heavily depended on the disco
music, rather than using the traditional gujarati folk songs
that are now very famous with the current generation. Since
then she has performed at thousands of shows in India and
abroad and has lended her voice to more than 200 music cassettes
and CD releases which include folk songs, 'sugam sangeet'
and religious songs.
